In Person Wax Talisman Workshop
In person wax workshops, two dates to choose from.
Our new studio is in the Nailsworth (Stroud area) GL5 5EZ. An hour from Bristol. A couple of hours from London.
After these workshops I will put together an online course for global friends, highlighting the most pertinent aspects of these in person workshops.
If you'd like to work with me in person these two dates are your chance ❤️
11-4PM, class includes up to three pieces finished in brass, with the option to subsidise any metal of your choosing, you can decide at the workshop.
I'll give you an overview of different wax types and how to know which ones to use to realise a specific design idea.
Bring lunch, I'll provide hot drinks and cake.
You'll craft the pieces in wax, I will then send them back to you up to 6 weeks later.
Hosted in our new showroom / HQ, this expansive studio is the perfect place to soak up a day of creative energy and be around others in that delicious flow state.
Whether you’re new to working with wax or want to ninja charge your skills and break out of your comfort zone, spending a day working with me and a group of inspired humans in a beautiful flow state, will be a treat for your senses and skill.
I started learning metalwork as a child, and fell in love with it straight away. It took another 20 years however, for me to discover the method of lost wax casting. I’m naturally more sculptural, kinaesthetic and lean into the ancient/ imperfect aspect of design, so for me, finding this technique changed everything.
Wax is a massive subject, a lifetime of exploration, and each artisan has worked hard to push the boundaries of what they’re passionate about and develop their voice, and you can too. This is an immersive space, an introductory workshop as well as somewhere to get deeper and more technical skills, work in a different way. I’ve witnessed people who don’t think they’re creative, pull incredible talismans put of a ball of wax in their hands and forge the material into wonderful objects with heart and energy.
This is also a place to reinvigorate your creative practice, and try to create something that isn’t like other things you’ve seen.
What if you let yourself try to make something from a pure place of love, curiosity and play? What if you let yourself let go of what jewellery even is, and came back to a child like ancient place of wonder, without attachment to the goal?
This is possible, some people come to my class and completely surprise themselves with what it’s possible to create. Contrastingly, some come with an exact and refined idea of what they wish to do, and go about making it with my support.
Places are limited so please grab your spot, and I look forward to seeing you there!
Parking on site, but disabled access is unfortunately not great so please contact me directly if you need more details about this.
See you there,
With love,
Loren
