I've always loved goats. I have six planets in Capricorn which I didn't know until a few years ago. Goats are astonishing animals, demonstrating the ability to live with other goats yet incessantly test the limits of their environment.  The goat signifies a strong, untamed, and independent spirit, with the tendency towards restlessness and the seeking of new challenges to mount. The Christian demonic association with goats , with Pan, lustfulness and disorderly being is a fairly recent one, mythologically. The term 'scapegoat' comes from an ancient Jewish tradition of ritualistic and symbolic loading the sins of a community into a goat. Maybe they knew the resilience of the goat could take it.
