Torque of Boudica Ring
Queen Boudica, the Queen of the Iceni tribe, the indigenous peoples of Britain.
The uprising to defend the circular, the cooperative, indigenous soul of the body, women's wisdom, of the spiral.
Boudica went into battle against Roman Invasion, rising in radical defence of the sacred land based rites of the indigenous people, who lived in round houses and worshipped not the Roman War Lords but the spiritual presence of nature and the power of women.
Manda Scott, who wrote the book Boudica, speaks of this Roman invasion as the time the British Isles moved from Initiation culture to Trauma culture.
Not only is this true happening of our shared cultural past, but a barometer we can hold up to our own experience. Do we honour and revere the intelligence of the body, intuition, feeling, community, shared ideals, or have we become ourselves colonised by the need to dominate that's come out of balance with the natural order of things?
Both in the ecosystem of our human body, the artistic pulse as it spreads through us, without punishment for being circular and spiralling?
The Torque of Boudica Ring is an enshrined homage to all that is indigenous in the human body. The sensual intelligence, the fierce presence of passionate love that burns through obstacles to truth, the homecoming to the sacredness of this body.
Radical, fierce, beauty. Not a beauty that we're told to be, objectified. A beauty that blazes brighter as we deepen into ourselves.
